How long will it take for stock house numbers to be dispatched?

We hand finish our stock house numbers to order to ensure we provide the highest quality to our customers. This means that your order is carefully packed straight from the workbench after passing our exceptional quality control standards. Stock orders are processed in our workshop every Wednesday and Friday, and in most cases your order will be dispatched on the closest workshop day to your order date. During exceptionally busy times this may be delayed, so if you are concerned about your delivery date please contact us with your order number for more information. If you are working to a deadline or need your number as a gift we can sometimes fast track an order so just give us a ring if you would like to enquire about a faster delivery.



What materials do you use to manufacture your products? Are they suitable for all locations?

All our house names and numbers are cut from 304 grade stainless steel and will stay looking flawless for a lifetime, with only an occasional clean. However this grade is not suitable for seaside locations - we now stock marine grade steel in our new 316 Modern range of numbers, or our powder coated house numbers are given an architectural grade powder coated finish for a sleek look, and these coatings are suitable for all locations including the coast. Alternatively, contact us about getting our other fonts or bespoke items cut in marine grade 316 stainless steel, as this will withstand sea-salt spray corrosion.


Will my house number or name need cleaning?


Finished items will stay bright for a long period of time (unlike brass!) and will require only occasional cleaning with a proprietary metal polish to keep them in good condition. We recommend M3 stainless steel cleaner once every 1-2 years. General household cleaning products containing bleach should never be used on stainless steel as this will lead to corrosion. 

How do your Hidden Fixings work? 

Our hidden fixing system is unique to www.housenumbers.co.uk and is simple and easy to install. We have two hidden fixing systems, one for brick or masonry, and one for wood. Both these systems are 'all metal' with no glue or plastic involved, and your order will be delivered to you with everything you need to install your new number, including detailed instructions. You will be able to specify your requirements when placing your order. Please contact us if you would like us to send you a PDF of our fixings instructions before you purchase our numbers. If you would like to install the numbers to a different surface then give us a call to talk it through as our workshop team can usually adapt our products for any surface.


How are the self-adhesive numbers fixed?


We provide your number with self-peel VHB tape attached to your number. Very Hi-Bond tape is a high strength foamed acrylic double sided tape and can be used to replace screws, rivets, spot welds and liquid adhesives for permanent bonds. It is an ideal application for signage. This tape has incredible strength and may be used with metal, plastics, glass etc. VHB tape reliably bonds stainless steel to uPVC eliminating the need for drilling and unsightly fasteners.

How can I use your bespoke design service?

We specialise in producing beautiful signage and numbers to our customer's specifications, and we have a design team that will guide you through the artwork process to create a beautiful addition to your home. All enquiries welcome, please include as much detail as possible on your request such as any size restrictions/ the surface you are fixing to/ delivery country etc.


Can I have any font (typeface) on my sign?


There are 100s of font options that can be used to create the effect that you desire. However, not all fonts are suitable for laser cutting so please do seek our advice on a suitable design. We will endeavour to create anything a customer wishes or to create the closest match if this is not possible. 

How long will it take for you to manufacture my bespoke order?

If your order is not a stock item your house number will be processed in a batch in order to keep our prices competitive. We routinely process a batch every two weeks and you will be given an expected delivery week when you place your order, according to current lead times. If you require your house number by a particular date (e.g. for a birthday present) please let us know when you place the order and we will do our best to accommodate this. During peak times (particularly April, August, November and December) we do sell out several batches in advance so please leave plenty of time if ordering bespoke items as a present.

Can I see what my house number or name plate will look like before ordering?

Yes, if you are ordering bespoke product artwork is always supplied for approval in the form of an image file (.jpg) after the order has been placed, however if you would like to see your number combination before placing your order just contact us first. When ordering a house name we allow multiple changes to artwork via an exchange of emails if required, to reach a final design solution.

Can I have a discount on multiple items or orders?

We are always pleased to offer quotations to architects, property developers, house builders, hotels, housing associations, etc. and offer corporate discounts on large orders. What are your delivery charges?

Your delivery charge will be based on the weight of your items and delivery destination. UK royal mail delivery charges are between £3 and £7. If your order is over £100 or extremely heavy we will send via a courier service, prices from £12.50, and you will receive a text advising you on a delivery date and time.  You can get an estimate of your delivery charge by adding your products to the cart.

Do you offer overseas shipping?

Yes, we do supply products to customers outside the UK. You can preview your shipping costs for an order on the 'view cart' page of the website before checking out by selecting your delivery country on the left hand side of the page. Alternatively you can contact us for a price for international postage and packing. Please note that we cannot ship our illuminated electrical products outside of the EU. 


Which size house number is right for me?


We have written a handy blog post about sizes which you may find useful! Our range of individual house and door numbers are stocked at 95mm, 150mm and 250mm high, but items can be manufactured to any size you require (just ask!). Our best selling size is 150mm high, however the most important thing to consider is whether your house name or number can be viewed from the road. This is a requirement under most local bylaws (so that the emergency services can identify your address).

How can I pay for my order?

You can use the secure link on the checkout page of our web site which will debit your credit or debit card account accordingly.  We use klarna as our secure payment system and you can use most types of credit and debit cards.  We also offer PayPal.
